You’re a student of computer science?

You feel confident about your English but want to learn how to use it in a mathematical context?

Well then you came to the right place!

This course focuses on the English competencies required to complete the course Mathematics for Computer Scientists (Mathematik für Informatiker/Informatikerinnen I).

In this course you will learn / practice:
· Using mathematical terminology,
· Pronunciation of mathematical notation and equations,
· The structure of and particular features of language (grammar and lexis) commonly used in mathematical texts, with a particular focus on formal proofs,
· Oral discussion of problems and presentation of solutions,
· Oral and written summarization (including effective note taking strategies)

Please note: To get credit for this class, students will be required to complete a series of small tasks throughout the semester and one final exam at ist end. Active participation in class activities is expected.
